The U.K Government’s Feed In Tariff (FIT) scheme introduced in April 2010, enables homeowners to receive payments for generating their own electricity guaranteed for 25 years, tax free and inflation adjusted.
As an example, a homeowner who installs a solar electricity system with an installation size of 2.2 kWp could earn around £770 per year from the Generation Tariff, £30 per year from the Export Tariff and reduce their electricity bill by £120 per year - a total saving of around £920 per year. (source: Energy Savings Trust).
Projected returns on investment before any discount we secure, are between *8 -12% p.a. which compares to current interest rates on savings of around 2- 5% p.a. (* ROI achieved will depend on various factors including the size of the system installed, purchase/installation cost and whether you are e.g. a 25% or 40% taxpayer.)
HOWEVER:
Homeowners find it difficult and time consuming to obtain information, ascertain which installers are best for quality, reliability and service and to compare complex quotes received.

PROTECTION FROM RISING ENERGY COSTS
Electricity prices increased by 80% between 1999 and 2009. (source: Department of Energy and Climate Change). By generating your own solar electricity, there will be less need to worry about future price increases levied by your electricity supplier.
INCREASED VALUE OF PROPERTY AND RENT LEVELS
Buyers and tenants are increasingly demanding energy efficient homes (source: Energy Savings Trust). By installing a solar electricity system, you can make your home more attractive and surveys across Europe and America reveal that the addition of solar panels to a house increases its value.
If you decide to sell your home in the future, the buyer will benefit from lower energy bills and the remaining income due from FIT. You should therefore ask your Estate Agent to reflect this in the asking price or rent required. Alternatively, the FIT payments due after sale can be assigned to you in the conveyancing agreement drawn up by your solicitor.
SAVE CO2 EMISSIONS EVERY YEAR
A typical home installation could save around 1 tonne of CO2 a year - around 30 tonnes over its lifetime. (source: Energy Savings Trust)
By generating your own electricity, you will help protect the environment for your children, grandchildren and future generations.

By participating in Energise Barnet, you will help create job opportunities for local residents related to the work we carry out.
